• February 3, 2026: Megan Jane MCKAY pled guilty to the charge of Failing to Provide Food, Water and/​or Care regarding a dog which Animal Protection Officers seized in September 2024. The dog was underweight, dehydrated, and required medical care. She was fined $500 and received a 10 year Prohibition Order from owning dogs.
• February 6, 2026: Denis TSIRULNIKOV pled guilty to the charges of Operating a Pet Establishment without a Licence and Selling an Animal without a Health Certificate after he sold multiple dogs in September 2024. He received a $860 fine on the first charge and $140 fine on the second charge.
• February 9, 2026: Patrick Q. FARREN pled guilty to the charges of Failing to Provide Food, Water, Shelter and/​or Care to sheep in November 2024, and Obstructing or Hindering an Animal Protection Officer when he attempted to prevent seizure of the sheep. He received a $500 fine on the first charge, a $140 fine on the second charge, and was ordered to pay Restitution in the amount of $462 with a 4 month Probation Order.
• February 26, 2026: Angela M. RUMBLE pled guilty to the SPCA Act charge of Failing to Provide Food and/​or Care to horses in December 2024. She received a 20 year Prohibition Order from owning animals, a $500 fine, and ordered to pay Restitution in the amount of $1000 with a 12 month Probation Order.
• March 24, 2026: Ashley KENNEDY-BOURQUE pled guilty to the charge of Operating a Pet Establishment without a Licence when she sold a puppy to an Animal Protection Officer in July 2025. She received a $140 fine and was ordered to pay $500 Restitution with a 6 month Probation Order.

Failed to appear for trial and again on April 14, 2025, warrants of arrest issued. On September 29, 2025, she pled guilty to the SPCA Act offence and the C.C. charge was withdrawn. Minimum fine waived, but 10-year Prohibition Order imposed.

March 17, 2025: Elizabeth Louise LEMMER-BENEDIX and Sean BENEDIX, Moncton Provincial Court, Allow Dog to Run at Large (Local Governance Act). Both parties failed to appear in court, found guilty at ex parte trial. Court issued summons for them to appear for sentencing and on April 11, 2025, Sean was fined $140.

April 23, 2025: Melissa Ann LEWIS and Levi LEWIS, Moncton Provincial Court. Cause Unnecessary Pain, Suffering or Injury; Fail to Provide Food, Water, Shelter and Care (Criminal Code and SPCA Act) . Both changed their pleas to guilty, sentencing adjourned to May 21, 2025. At sentencing, Levi was fined $1000 + $200 victim fine surcharge, a one-year Prohibition Order, and a six-month Probation Order to pay restitution of $565.55. Melissa received the same disposition except her Prohibition Order is for ten years.

Each defendant received a $500 fine, a 10-year Prohibition Order and a 12-month Probation Order with a condition that each pays half of a total restitution of $1279.99.

The dog did not suffer any lasting injury and was adopted to a new home.

  Comments: The accused’s Rottweiler suffered severe brain damage after having its head caught in a conibear trap while running at large. The trap was removed with bolt cutters by pedestrians who found the dog. When officers attended the next morning after receiving a complaint concerning the dog, the accused had not taken the dog for medical care and was in severe distress. The dog was seized but despite best efforts the dog passed away from brain swelling and bleeding, and a ruptured eye.

  Comments: The investigation commenced after the accused surrendered 4 dogs to the Fredericton SPCA, one which was in severe distress and was subsequently euthanized. The dog was emaciated with a prolapsed uterus and a mass on its shoulder, and was very weak and lethargic. All dogs were filthy and covered in feces. It was found that the dogs had been living in a barn in their own feces. The remaining 3 dogs had minor health concerns but recovered and were adopted to new homes.

The dog required 3 surgeries to remove all the quills but recovered and was adopted to a new home.

  Comments: A small male poodle mix was found running at large in Fredericton. The dog was extremely matted, dirty, and covered in feces and urine, with overgrown nails and open wounds. The hind end was so badly matted with feces that the sex of the dog could not be determined until it was shaved. The dog was found to be 18 years old, and due to medical and behavioral conditions, the dog was humanely euthanized.
