FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 6, 2025
Fredericton, N.B. – The New Brunswick SPCA (NBSPCA) is pleased to announce a special fundraising initiative supported by Nu Ceramics Studio in support of the Happy Tails program. The studio has donated pottery supplies, and studio members have donated their time and artistic talents to create a collection of unique cat and dog-themed pottery mugs that will be sold to benefit this vital community program.
The Happy Tails program expanded in February 2025 to offer financial assistance for emergency veterinary care for low-income pet families, as well as cat spay and neuter procedures. Since 2024, the program has provided more than $200,000 in financial assistance, helping more than 400 New Brunswick families keep their pets healthy and in their homes.
“At the NBSPCA, we believe that every pet deserves a happy and healthy life,” says Lesley Rogers, Executive Director of the NBSPCA. “Community partnerships like this one with Nu Ceramics Studio provide the vital funding needed to make this a reality for struggling families throughout our province. This support will help us achieve our goal of supporting an additional 100 pet families before the end of this calendar year.” Each handcrafted mug created by Nu Ceramics Studio members costs $40. All proceeds directly support the Happy Tails program.
“At Nu Ceramics, we believe creativity has the power to build community and create change,” says studio owner Andrew McCullum. “Many of our members are passionate animal lovers and several volunteer with rescue organizations, foster pets or have adopted rescues themselves, so this partnership with the NBSPCA feels especially meaningful. We were excited to roll up our sleeves and get muddy for a cause that helps keep families and their pets together.”
The pottery can be viewed and purchased both online at www.nuceramics.ca and in-store at Nu Ceramics Studio, 744 McLeod Avenue in Fredericton, while supplies last.

About New Brunswick SPCA
Founded in 1881, New Brunswick SPCA (NBSCPA) is the only provincewide organization mandated to enforce animal protection laws. A dedicated team of 15 Animal Protection Officers is vested with the authority under the SPCA Act of New Brunswick to investigate and, if necessary, lay charges, seize animals, or recommend court orders to persons suspected of abuse and cruelty to animals.
The NBSPCA is a registered charity that exists to provide provincewide leadership in the humane treatment of animals. We enforce relevant legislation, ensure shelter for neglected or abused domesticated animals and agricultural animals, and provide public education and advocacy to empower New Brunswickers to help animals live long and healthy lives.
