In the spring of 2024, a heartwarming tale of resilience unfolded in northern New Brunswick. It all began when a concerned resident stumbled upon an injured cat desperately needing help. Little did they know that this encounter would lead to a remarkable transformation and a new chapter in the life of one lucky boy named Cliff.
Renata, an Animal Protection Officer with the NBSPCA, swiftly responded to the distress call. Upon arrival, she was met with a heartbreaking sight – a big tomcat, gravely injured from an encounter with a wild animal and suffering from severe infections. Despite his pain, Cliff was friendly and purring with every touch.
Renata wasted no time convincing the concerned citizen to entrust Cliff’s care to the NBSPCA. With assurances of top-notch veterinary care and rehabilitation, Cliff was whisked away to receive the urgent medical attention he desperately needed.
Under the expert care of veterinarians, Cliff underwent a series of treatments, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and pain medication. Additionally, a strict cleaning protocol was implemented to address his infected wounds. Despite his challenges, Cliff’s spirit shone through, and he survived.
We have adopted him here at NBSPCA Headquarters, where he holds a special place in our hearts. Known as the “#2 cat,” Cliff’s duties extend far beyond the traditional roles of a shelter resident. Alongside his big brother Norm, Cliff is an ambassador for the NBSPCA.
His responsibilities include providing companionship to Norm, purring on command (a skill he excels in), and, most importantly, spreading awareness about what can happen to animals when left outside.
